Unfortunately, not everyone is so lucky to be able to pursue the career they want the most. Even if many students are brilliant they might not be able to attend college because of how much it costs. 1. Scholarships A scholarship is an award of access to an institution or a financial aid award for an individual (a 'scholar') for the purposes of furthering their education. A scholarship may be awarded based on range of criteria, which usually reflect the views or purposes of the donor or founder of the award. Another meaning of 'scholarship' is the pursuit of a research subject, usually in arts or humanities (as opposed to science). In both scholarly and scientific fields, the word 'scholarship' is used to mean deep mastery of a research subject, often achieved through university studies. Scholarships are a great way to finance your way through college or university. There are many institutions that are willing to help students finish their college. Actually, most college students get over a billion dollars from scholarship grants each year. 2. How To Get Money Begin your search for college and university scholarships before you are even out of highschool. Some scholarships are given out only to highschool students! Why not go ahead and ask your guidance counselor and your schools financial aid officer about scholarships? 3. Keep Searching Even after you get a scholarship, keep searching. Many scholarships get renewed every year and you may qualify for more than one scholarship. The majority of scholarship grants are dependent on the financial need and academic accomplishment of a student, so be sure to participate in lots of extracurricular activities. 4. Know All The Deadlines Scholarships are often awarded on a specific date. For this reason, you should know all the requirements for the scholarship and be able to meet them well in advance of that date. A last minute application doesnt look as good as one submitted well in advance.
